A Message From Kirk

Dear Friends,

Serving as your independent voice in the Texas legislature is an honor that I value and never take for granted.

From the moment I was elected, I have always chosen the best interests of the people of District 106 over all others. And I always will.

Staying true to home hasn’t always made me the most popular member at the Capitol, but I am elected to do one thing: represent you. My job is to do what is right for our community – not follow the lead of special interests or politicians in Austin who use strong arm tactics to get what they want. This has been, and always will be, my guiding light in serving as your state representative.

Our communities and state have certainly been struck by the current economic recession. The state’s estimated $18 billion budget shortfall is a prime example of the struggles we’ll face in the next session.

I will oppose any tax increase and will work to eliminate wasteful spending. We will undoubtedly have to reduce the budget, but rest assured I will draw the line on cuts to our schools and on health care programs for our children and seniors.

The people in this community want someone who shares their family values, but they also want someone who truly values their families. Making these tough spending decisions will be a challenge, but I will work diligently to help the people of Grand Prairie and Irving cope with and, ultimately, overcome these difficult times.

I deeply appreciate and will always remember your support. Thank you for the honor of serving you in the Texas House. I am deeply humbled by the experience every day.

Sincerely,

Kirk England
